Welcome to Class 1R's Page!
I have been amazed with the children during our first two days back. They have shown great team skills, listening skills and have really enjoyed all activities completed.
All children have jumped into new learning really well. They have surprised me with their enthusiasm and energy.
Our Topic this term is Going Places!
For this topic we will be focusing on Art, Geography and ICT.
In art, we will be looking at Sidmouth, London and the South of France. We will be using different artistic techniques to look at the different landscapes.
In geography, we will be looking at the different ways people travel in each of these places and how you can travel to them.
In ICT, we will be focusing on how to use the internet safely, how to take pictures using an Ipad, creating a programme, finding information and creating new content.
We are beginning our maths learning by looking at different units of measure.
The children will be exploring distance, mass, height and length through a variety of continuous provision activities and guided group sessions.
They have enjoyed seeing who can throw the furthest, seeing who can build the tallest tower, finding items that are heavy and light, as well as using the correct language for each unit of measure.
Our writing journey is beginning by looking at what sentences are made up of and how to construct them. The children enjoyed looking at a wordless book for inspiration!
The Star of the Week is...
Our class book is The Magic Finger written by Roald Dahl and illustrated by Quentin Blake.
I hope the children love this book as much as I do!
In 1R, we have a teddy. This teddy is called Brian Bear and he will go home with a child who has been AMAZING in many different ways.
Brian Bear has a book which will come home as well. In this book please draw, write or add pictures of what you have done over the weekend with him.
Brian LOVES to listen to children read to him before bed, so please make sure you tuck him up and read a bedtime book to him.
Brian Bear is very special to me, so please do take care of him!
If you are able to support children with their reading by coming into school and listening to children read, then please let me know.
If you have any questions please feel free come in to speak to me.
