Creating structures for an air raid shelter

As part of our topic on World War 2 the children have been set the challenge of making an air raid shelter.

The focus of the topic is strengthening materials so they have only been allowed to use lollipop sticks, paper and glue to make a shelter which is as strong as possible.

We practiced different ways of joining the materials together to make them stronger and now we are beginning to construct the shelters.

Today we created the designs for our air raid shelters.

We had to consider what materials to use, how to join them and especially how to make the structure strong.
